At Thatcher Academy, we teach extracurricular activities which are swimming, art, computers, ballet, cooking and baking, music, dancing, chase and trips.
Swimming is a fun way to keep our children healthy and active. It improves our children’s strength, flexibility and strength. As the children learn various swim strokes and water safety technics, they will also be learning about perseverance, resilience and more. Swimming encourages a healthy level of physical and social activities improving your child’s mental and emotional health.
Art is good for the visual processing and memory of children. It is also good for self-expression. Mastering art skills help children gain confidence and perseverance.
Learning computers boosts the children’s problem-solving skills and also improving long term memory and manual dexterity. We teach them spatial and logical skills preparing them for future computer use.
Ballet helps children learn to follow instructions. They become active and get some exercise. They lack coordination, balance and how to control their bodies in motion. They also gain a sense of discipline through learning new steps. It also improves flexibility.
Cooking and baking
Provide an opportunity for children to get hands on experience with basic science, a real life science experiment. Cooking and baking also help children with healthy self esteem development. It allows them to get instant feedback which makes them grow in self esteem.
Music helps the body and the mind work together. Teaching children music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. It also helps strengthen memory skills.
Dancing teaches our children to carry themselves better since they are taught how to control their bodies to optimally support their own weight. It keeps children fit and give them better balance.
Teaching the children to play chase helps improving their memory and concentration. Playing chase enhances reading and maths skills, encourages and rewards hard work and improves the children’s visual memories.
We also offer a lot of field trips for our little ones to enrich and expand their curriculum, strengthen observation skills by immersing children into sensory activities, increase children’s knowledge in a particular subject area and expand children’s awareness of their own environment and surroundings.
We also have a good playing centre with a lot of toys that enhance the development of physical, emotional and intellectual skills of our learners.
We use interactive boards / smart boards for our learners and this makes learning fun and interest in each day.
Children can learn new skills, have fun, play and develop self confidence by spending time in the garden tending to plants and growing their own food. Most children enjoy being out door and love digging the soil, getting dirty, creating things and watching plans grow.
